Meet a Columban Seminarian

My name is Francesco Pio. I am from the island of Fiji which is located in the Oceania region. I am 28 years of age, and I was born in Fiji. The life where I grew up is like simple life, and my family house is located near the sea, where the breeze from the sea and from the mountains blew. My hobbies that I most like are planting and fishing.

My call to the Columbans happened when our second priest ordained on Rabi which is Columban Fr. Teakare. I feel that the Columbans are the best priests I have ever met. I feel called because in each life I encounter challenges of this life but God is always with me in every moment I live. I hope that God will guide me along in this great journey of vocation life and bring me to the goal I always dream.

My favorite subjects in my studies are the Old Testament and philosophy, I find interest in these courses because it helps me find the truth of myself and also the truth behind my blindness. I like to read the articles or stories about the church. So, this is my first year of formation in the Philippines. My formation life is so enjoyable and also interesting in a way that it is a big transition for me. I mean that I came from a different culture, and now I live with a different culture. This makes a lot of difference in this formation life but it also helps me to learn other cultures.
